YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT
When you schedule your first appointment with us, you will get a confirmation email first. We will go ahead and add you into our system. You will receive a separate email from us with a link to fill out your paperwork. Please keep in mind that the link expires within 24 hours. Feel free to contact us if you need us to resend the link. If you choose to fill out your forms at your appointment time, please arrive 15 min earlier.
If you are using your health insurance to pay for services, you will be able to add your insurance information as you fill out the forms.
We suggest you eat something before coming in and if possible wear comfortable loose clothing (we do provide gowns and towels, if needed).
During your first appointment, we will go over your entire medical history. It is very important that you take time to go over the forms. It is not a formality, but an important piece about your health that will be taken into account to form a more accurate diagnosis. I will then look at your tongue and take your pulse. Tongue and pulse readings will determine your personalized point & herbal prescription.
I typically give each patient a brief explanation of how his or her signs & symptoms are seen through the philosophy of Chinese Medicine. I will explain treatment options and goals. I will also provide a detailed treatment plan on your second visit or will send it via email. It will include a personalized dietary, lifestyle, herbal and supplement recommendations.
When it comes to the treatment, you are probably concerned about the pain involved with Acupuncture. While the needle insertion is usually painless you may get some sensation once the needle is inserted. It feels different to different people and in different spots but it is minimal at best.
Once the needles are in place and you are feeling comfortable, I dim the lights, play relaxing music and leave for 20-30 minutes. My patients usually find treatments very relaxing and look forward to coming back.
