EMOTIONAL ISSUES

Emotional Issues

One of the most frequently treated conditions in our clinic is Anxiety disorder. Living in a big city with a fast pace of life can be very difficult to maintain, which leads to feeling overwhelmed at first but when left untreated it can turn into chronic anxiety. Feeling stressed has become the norm as we keep pushing ourselves beyond our limits. Adrenaline was originally intended to give us an extra boost in cases of immediate danger, with its help people could be more alert and energetic to react in life threatening situations. Nowadays we rarely face life-threatening situations but instead we deal with constant low-grade stress that raises adrenaline and cortisol levels in the body. Which in turn has detrimental effects on all organ systems. Acupuncture triggers the release of endorphins – your natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins help counteract negative effects of cortisol and promote relaxation. Acupuncture also has a muscle relaxant effect and helps you sleep better. In fact, one of the effects of any Acupuncture treatment is the shift from Sympathetic mode of “fight and flight” to Parasympathetic mode of “rest and digest”.

Depression can develop on its own or be a sign of an underlying imbalance. It is very important to get to the root problem when treating it. Unfortunately, many patients have to rely on strong medications to mask the symptoms to be able to carry on with their lives. Research shows that with the help of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine patients are able to decrease or completely eliminate use of anti-depression medications.
