Temporomandibular joint pain

Temporomandibular Joint Pain is a widespread condition that affects roughly 12% of US population, yet there is little help offered by Western conventional medicine. Dentists dislike treating TMJ as they are unable to deliver consistent results. This is not a surprise as TMJ is not a dental problem, it is more often caused by muscle inhibition in a cervical spine and shoulder girdle muscle groups. Research supports the relationship between the two. At Mulberry Leaf we go through a detailed assessment to find the muscle imbalance and pinpoint the root of the problem. We successfully treat TMJ by restoring motor inhibition and joint function, addressing muscle tension, reducing inflammation and pain. We utilize intraoral massage, acupuncture and a functional motor point therapy to ensure long-lasting results.
